Island Energy Inquiry
Aligning with the state of Hawaii's commitment to be powered by 70% clean energy by 2030, Women in Technology has made a similar commitment to build a technically skilled, education to workforce pipeline to help achieve energy independence.

WIT's Island Energy Inquiry program gives Hawaii middle and high school teachers the skills, curriculum, and hands-on materials to engage their students in designing energy solutions for our unique state.
The evolving teacher professional development curriculum currently focuses on photovoltaic electricity, wind energy, solar thermal energy and energy efficiency. In addition, the program uses local engineers and other energy industry representatives to present various energy topics to teachers.
All participants receive hands-on kits to take back to the classroom, which include miniature PV modules, a four-foot wind turbine, and energy auditing equipment.
All professional development events are being delivered using a hybrid-learning environment that combines a two-day, face-to-face event with online, ongoing support during classroom implementation.
